Q. When will I get the data?

A. The US Government publishes the Commitments of Traders Report each week. This usually happens on a Friday afternoon and the analysts at COT4metaTrader.com will deliver this data to you for your use shortly afterwards.

Q. What do i do with the FOREX Commitments of Traders data when I receive it?

A. Detach the file called COT4MetaTrader.bin from the email and place it in the experts\files directory where your broker’s platform is installed. For example:

C:\Program Files\Interbank FX Trader 4\experts\files

If you are prompted to replace the file, then select YES to replace the existing file.

Q. Does COT4Metatrader work with demo accounts?

A. Yes. Unlike offerings from our competitors, It will work with all accounts - demo and live - and with all Metatrader4 brokers.

Q. Where can I download the Commitments of Traders indicators for MetaTrader 4?

A. Visit our downloads page. Here you will also find instructions on how to install it.

Q. Do you give my email address to unscrupulous spammers?

A. No. We will not share your details with anyone, unscrupulous or otherwise.

Q. How are the values calculated?

A. We calculate the net long positions by subtracting the number of short positions from the long positions and then we produce an index from the result. This means that the 0 value is the time when the traders were most short in the market and the 100 index is when the traders were most long.

Q. what do the different colors represent?

A. The Red line represents the Commercial Traders - or the Big Dogs!
The Green line represents the non-Commercial traders (or the speculators).
The Blue line represents the Non-reportable (or small traders)
The Black line represents the total Open Interest.

Note these are the default colors and you can change them to your own preferences.

Q. I get an Error 4103. What is this?

A. That is when we can not open the COT4MetaTrader.bin file. Make sure that you do not have another program with the file open - such as a text editor or Microsoft Excel. Check also that you have saved the COT4MetaTrader.bin file in the right directory C:\program files\broker\experts\files.

Q. How does it look on the Hourly or Daily charts?

A. The Indicators will work on all charts with a period less than or weekly - even the 1 minute chart! For an idea of how it looks on daily and hourly charts click on these links. the only timeframe it will not work on is the monthly since it makes no sense to show it on a weekly chart.

Q. Will you fill my inbox with unsolicited junk?

A. No. We’ll only send you the email containing the data on a weekly basis. We’ll occasionally need to email you about your account but other than that we’ll leave you alone. We’ll also not provide your email address to any other party.

Q. I have a filter to remove unsolicited mail, what is your email address so i can make sure the email gets through?

A. Our email address is on the left. All emails from cot4metatrader.com will come from this email address.

Q. I am subscribed through Paypal, How do I unsubscribe?

A. We hope that you have no reason to unsubscribe. If you are unhappy with our service, please contact us so that we can do our best to put things right.

Log into your PayPal, account to unsubscribe. Note that your subscription will end as soon as we receive notice from PayPal that you have ended your subscription, even if you unsubscribe part way through the month.

Q. I am subscribed through e-Gold, How do I unsubscribe?

A. We hope that you have no reason to unsubscribe. If you are unhappy with our service, please contact us so that we can do our best to put things right.

You need not take any action. Prior to your subscription expiring, we will contact yu to remind you to renew your subscription. If you do not want to re-subscribe then simply let us know. We’ll be sorry to lose you.

Q. Does COT4Metatrader work on Metatrader3 platforms?

A. No. We also have no plans to support Metatrader3. Sorry.
